R.E.

R.E at Leigham Primary School will develop children's enquiring minds and ensure we respect others' thoughts and beliefs. Through exploring big questions about life, our pupils will understand religions and worldviews and develop an understanding of their own place within the local community and wider world.

Curriculum Intent

Religious Education has a significant role for the development of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It explores people’s worldviews and discovers how this impacts the way people live their life. We aim for our pupils to make sense of religion, beliefs, cultural practices and worldviews, and provide many opportunities for reflection on their own ideas and ways of living.  We will encourage each child to explore their relationships with others and to consider their own place within the local community and wider world.

Curriculum Impact

We aim for our pupils to develop enquiring minds who respect others’ thoughts and beliefs. From exploring big questions about life, we wish for our pupils to develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of religions and worldviews in the local, national and wider global community. During reflections, our pupils will gain time to consider thoughtfully their own attitudes, values and beliefs.
