Computing

We want our children to develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate our technological society and to prepare them for our future world.

Curriculum Intent

At Leigham Primary School we aim to provide a Computing curriculum which will give children (regardless of their need or barrier) the knowledge and skills needed to navigate our technological society and to prepare them for the future world. Our teaching provides experiences of digital literacy, information technology, computer science and online safety. Imperatively, children will learn how to stay safe when working online and with digital devices. They will be taught to use technology responsibly, being mindful of how their actions and words can affect others.

Curriculum Impact

The impact of our Computing curriculum will be children to leave Leigham Primary School with the skills and knowledge required to be digitally literate and safe when working online throughout their lives. We aim to excite them with new and real-life digital experiences and inspire them to explore further STEAM opportunities.

We will measure impact of our curriculum through assessment of pupil’s work, discussions with pupils and teachers and regular monitoring.

How are we raising standards for our children?

  • High quality teaching for all children across the school.
  • Introduction of a well-researched, comprehensive scheme which aims to raise teachers’ subject knowledge and confidence with teaching Computing and therefore improve children’s experiences and outcomes.
  • Comprehensive maintenance of digital devices to ensure they are working and up to date for all requirements.
