Curriculum Intent
Our children should feel that they are musical and will develop a life-long love of music. We focus on developing the skills, knowledge and understanding that pupils need in order to become confident performers, composers and listeners. We teach our children to respect and appreciate music from all traditions and communities. Children will develop their singing, playing of tuned and untuned instruments, improvising and composing music and listening and responding to music.
Curriculum Impact
Our pupils should leave school with a range of skills which enable them to succeed on their next step of their musical journey. Our pupils will; be confident performers, composers and listeners, show and appreciation and respect for a wide range of musical styles, understand how music is influenced by wider cultural, social and historical change, understand how music can be written down and recorded, demonstrate and articulate personal musical preferences and meet the National curriculum end of key stage expectations.

How are we raising standards for our children?
- High-quality teaching for all children across the school. Peer observations will ensure consistency across the year group.
- More confident staff members support through team-teaching opportunities.
- Provision of a well-researched and well-resourced scheme of learning that ensures that teachers can implement our curriculum intent.
